How did you find Cricut, and why did you join the Contributing Artist Program?
I found Cricut had come to SA in 2021, and having had a long-time fascination with this powerful machine, I immediately knew I wanted to be involved! I served as an ambassador for two and a half years, and when CAP opened for applications, it was an obvious choice to get involved – I am a full-time graphic designer, and being able to create artwork for my fellow crafters is a joy!
Where did your artistic journey begin?
My mom was an art teacher while I was growing up, and I don’t remember a time before art was a major part of my life. I have always been creating and making in some capacity.
What does creativity mean to you?
Creativity is about seeing the world through a different lens; knowing that you have the capacity to build something new rather than accepting what already exists. Creativity is the “I can make that” and the constant passion to make the world into what you know it has the potential for. I think it’s the most important thing in the world.
Who or what inspires you to create, and why?
My mom is a constant inspiration to me, because she’s my favourite, and the funniest, most creative person I know. I am also very inspired by my South African community, and being able to create work that represents and celebrates our uniqueness.
What is your favourite type of craft, or what project have you created that you are most proud of?
I love working with fabric, and being able to cut fabric with my Cricut is one of my favourite ways to create! I also love embroidery a lot, and you can often find me stitching. I love being able to use Cricut products in unexpected ways to create cool projects.
Describe your artistic style in one word.
Eclectic
Are you a clean or messy person?
Ohhhhh boy. Messy messy.
What would it be if you had to choose a colour to describe yourself?
Rainbow. One isn’t enough for me.
Favourite Cricut product and why?
